More than 70,000 advertising professionals have lost their jobs in this Great Recession. Lemonade is about what happens when people who were once paid to be creative in advertising are forced to be creative with their own lives.

This video is sick! This is the stuff I wish I was making. I wonder how they made it?
They probably set up a 360º camera array around the dudes to create the spinning head footage first and recorded the source audio simultaneously. I bet the dj's used some form of time—coded vinyl or mp3 formatted turntables with an app that recorded the time signatures as they played. Then some one would've had to take that time signature data and translated it to the 360º view of the heads with one revolution of the record being equivalent to a full rotation of the head. Then composting it all together to rap things up, but DAMN! That was hot.

I wounder if Kohl's would let me convince them to do something like this.
Spinning heads on turntables lol, that would be a stretch.

Let Your Self Feel

The Vimeo description reads:
a little animation project i started this past weekend, inspired by the wonderful music of Olafur Arnalds.

the song is called Ljósið, and you can listen to it at:

foundsongs.erasedtapes.com/

In that site you will find a few more songs, and let me tell you, they're all incredibly beautiful and haunting (and inspiring).

the quotes are from many sources, including Brian Eno, Stefan Segmeister, Albert Einstein and a few more i got randomly and i'm not sure about the author.

In all cases, thank you for the inspiration.

Hope you'll like it, cheers.

Mos Def Live in Chicago

This is one of my first vlogs so bare with me as I figure out the formula. Last week sunday Haz Solo, Chaz (Whaz), Dylan Thomas, and myself met JD sivadink in Chicago... to see Mos Def. It was my first time visiting the House of Blues which was covered with jazz inspired folk art from head to toe.

While We were waiting in line outside some Sprite promoters offered us some new Sprite Green for free. I decided to leave our collective reactions to the taste of the new beverage out of my video diary cause... it was just plane nasty and no one liked it. However JD, Chaz, and I all agreed that the cans design was "sweet". Hussein was the first opening act to rock the crowd. I was impressed by his lyrical ability but that wasn't much of a surprise since he was opening for mos def. Next came Jay Electronic who also served Chicago a plate of well cooked rhymes with a side of humor.

But the funniest part of the night was when Jay called out to the audience for emcees and all of us pointed at Haz. Haz got up on stage and commenced to freestyle about Giordano's pizza to a mixed response but we couldn't stop laughing.

Then it was time for Mos. The crowds anxiety grew as the sounds of "Hip Hop" being played by a big band spilled from behind the closed curtain. Once it drew open the Staged was washed with red lights and all you could see, if you could see, was a masked hooded figure greeting every one with "peace, peace, peace". It took mos about two songs to shed his mask but he stayed on his game all night long with imitations of the late Michael Jackson's idiosyncrasies on stage. Performing mostly his new material with a few classics like "Umi Says" and "Traveling Man" Mos seldom performed a song with out paying homage to its sampled history. All in all it was a great show at a great venue on a great day. Now I'm just waiting for Mos to perform in Milwaukee.

Peace

THE FANTASTIC MR. FOX TRAILER

I'm really looking forward to this stop motion animation.

Here’s your look at the first trailer for Wes Anderson’s stop-motion animated Fantastic Mr. Fox, based on the Roald Dahl book (adapted by Anderson and Noah Baumbach). Voice cast includes Meryl Streep, George Clooney, Anjelica Huston, and Bill Murray, who if you thought he was lovable as a human, is even more of a huggable snugglebottom as a badger in a suit.

A lot of the other movie sites out there are complaining about the animation looking “weird” or “flat”, but I like that it’s easy on the CGI and not 3D. 3D is particularly stupid. I like to be free to look at any part of the frame without getting a GD headache, and the screen looking like a pop-up book isn’t a huge selling point for me. And if I wanted to wear glasses I would’ve been born a nerd. I don’t want 3D, I don’t want my chair shaking around, and I don’t need an “immersive experience.” How bout you just make a good movie and let me sit here with my nachos and stay outta my sh*t, eh hotshot?

MTV International Rebranding

I don't watch MTV too much anymore but I love this branding.
Written by MUST

MTV launches a spanky new look as of today – as its international brand refresh rolls out across the company's network of 64 channels, created by MTV's creative directors from around the world in collaboration with UK-based studio Universal Everything."Now the logo is sacred," says Roberto Bagatti, Vice President of Creative for MTV Networks International and Creative Director of MTV's World Design Studio in Milan, who oversaw the project.

MTV Networks International now has a new flexible typographic navigation system for displaying onscreen information. The MTV logo remains in a fixed top left position onscreen at all times and acts as an anchor for the new system of information display - with the title of the current programme always appearing immediately to the right of the logo in a blue progress-bar so viewers can guage where they are in the current programme. To the right of this info is where viewers will occasionally see information in yellow text boxes: yellow denotes what's coming up next on the channel. And to the right of this, appears what's coming up later - always in a pink info box. The typeface used for this primary information is Pharma Bold Condensed by Swiss type foundry Optimo.

As well as the main programme info, more playful messages will appear in the lower third of the screen - and for this text, there is a collection of secondary brand typefaces to choose from, depending on the mood of the message. The eight secondary typefaces were selected for their expressive or emotion-inducing nature - and to add an element of fun to the onscreen identity of the channel.

“We are huge fans of Universal Everything, says Bagatti of MTV's choice of agency. They apply a fresh direction to each new project that goes beyond momentary trends in graphic design and they approach a brief with a different kind of attitude and a wide range of references spread across multiple disciplines – everything from architecture and contemporary art, to molecular cuisine and biology. We were also drawn towards the non-traditional broadcast side that Universal Everything applies. We knew that their interpretation of pop culture would fit with ours and visually, the rebrand would be spectacular without treading on clichés.” [via Creative Review]

Here are all six of the new idents by Universal Everything:
